Christine Anu to perform at 2013 Illawarra Folk Festival

Australia’s own soul diva, Christine Anu has been announced as part of the 2013 Illawarra Folk Festival line up.

Illawarra Folk Festival is New South Wale’s biggest and most diverse folk festival.

For four days from January 17-20 the Bulli Showgrounds will be home to the 28th annual Illawarra Folk Festival – with its sensational line-up of folk, world, acoustic, Celtic, bluegrass and gypsy music, as well as poetry, dances, workshops, parades and sessions.

Over 150 international, national and local acts with 600 performers will turn the showgrounds in the musical epicentre of NSW for four days.

Joining the 2013 Illawarra Folk Festival will be Christine Anu, Mike McClellan, Jeff Lang, Rory McLeod (UK), Nancy Kerr (UK) and James Fagan, The Woohoo Revue, Mzaza, The Go Set, Ruby Boots, Rik Palieri (USA), Rick Nestler (USA), Gregory Page (USA), Don’t Mention the Wall (Germany), Tolka, Mustered Courage, Riogh, Mark Cryle & The Redeemers, Monsieur Swing, Fiona Boyes, Frencham Smith, Modhan (Scotland), Shameless Seamis and the Tullamore Dews, Karen Lynne Bluegrass Circle, Johnny Huckle, Jan Preston, Thrillbilly Stomp, Handsome Young Strangers, Susanna Carman, Senor Cabrales, The Volatinsky Trio, Mal Webb, Barry Skipsey, Vardos, The Ballpoint Penguins.There’s still around another 100 to come!

The festival’s home is Bulli Showground, nestled under the spectacular Illawarra escarpment and just a few minutes from Bulli Beach.

The festival site is an all-weather venue with 12 covered stages, lots of onsite parking and camping.

And it’s only an hour from Sydney and easily accessible by train, on one of the most spectacular coastal train journeys in Australia.

So the Illawarra Folk Festival provides a perfect opportunity for Sydney-based travellers to come by train and experience the true spirit of Down Under, listen to great music from Australia and around the world, meet the locals and maybe visit the stunning beaches of the region.
