Christine Anu Live at BOND
This weekend, Sunday 15th March
ADCO Amphitheatre, 3:00pm. Presented by Bond University as part ofBleach* Festival.
Support act: Tyus Arndt and the Churchie soul band.
This Sunday, Aussie icon and trailblazer Christine Anu will be performing for free at Bond University’s ADCO Amphitheatre!
The Churchie Soul Band is a group of talented young guys from Anglican Church Grammar School, formed especially for this concert. Tyus Arndt, a Bond University Indigenous Scholarship student, is an old-boy of Churchie and front man of the Soul Band. His singing style is heavily influenced by soul and funk greats like Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett and Sam & Dave. The songs chosen reflect the students’ passion for great music that makes you move. With Christine performing songs from her “Rewind” tribute to Aretha Franklin, the Churchie Soul Band thought it would be good to represent the men of soul.
We are expecting a big crowd, come early for a seat in the Amphitheatre or bring your picnic blanket, chairs and hamper and find a great position on the grassy areas surrounding the Amphitheatre.
The Poetry Gallery exhibition is a special cultural addition to the day. It is an exhibition of over 200 poems by local writers, on display from 2:00pm. www.bond.edu.au/poetrygallery
Students from the Bond University Indigenous Awareness Society will be selling raffle tickets to fundraise for their outreach trip to St Teresa’s School, Abergowrie (north Qld) with beaut prizes including an artwork by acclaimed Indigenous artist Narelle Urquhart and a fabulous hamper of goodies.
The forecast is sunny, but in the event of rain our wet weather location is Don’s Tavern. Wet weather changes will be posted on the Live at Bond facebook page.
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
