In 2014, Harvest Rain produced a major arena production of CATS at the Brisbane Convention Centre starring Marina Prior and featuring over 800 performers from across South East Queensland. The production was seen by over 13,000 people and set a world record for the largest production of CATS ever staged in the southern hemisphere.
In 2016, Harvest Rain is set to break yet another world record when they stage a major arena production of the musical HAIRSPRAY at the Brisbane Convention Centre in April 2016.
This production of HAIRSPRAY will star Simon Burke as Edna, Christine Anu as Motormouth Maybelle, Rob Mills as Corny Collins and Wayne Scott Kermond as Wilbur alongside a core cast of 30 professional performers and a large ensemble of over 500 local performers, making it the largest production of HAIRSPRAY ever staged in the world.
Harvest Rain is producing this show as a way of showcasing the best up and coming musical theatre talent that Queensland has to offer. In the coming months the search will commence to find young performers to take up the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in a large scale professional production alongside some of the biggest names in the country. Each young artist who auditions successfully will be put through a rigorous HAIRSPRAY boot camp and performance training process, which will culminate in five performances of HAIRSPRAY from 8 to 10 April 2016 at the Brisbane Convention and Entertainment Centre.
Tickets will be on sale via Ticketek in November 2015!
