The Rabbits Live Original Cast Recording

The Rabbits - iTunes

“The rabbits came many grandparents ago. They built houses, made roads, had children. They cut down trees. A whole continent of rabbits…”

The Rabbits is an evocative and deeply moving story. Adapted from the haunting picture book by John Marsden and Shaun Tan, it tells of colonisation, displacement and, ultimately, of hope.

Butterfly-voiced opera and pop singer Kate Miller-Heidke is the composer of the exquisitely beautiful score, as well as leading the cast in this live recording from the Sydney Festival. The four-time Helpmann Award-winning production also features enchanting lyrics by Lally Katz, creating an opera to spark the imaginations of children and adults alike.

The Rabbits may well prove to be one of the most important works ever created in this country” – The Daily Telegraph

“A triumphant adaptation of a deeply tragic story. ★★★★★” – The Guardian
